WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Senate last week confirmed New Mexico native Dale Hall as the new director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).

Hall has worked for the USFWS' Southwest region for the past 3 years, overseeing USFWS activities in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma. He previously spent 7 months working as the interim regional director in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

President George W. Bush selected him to take over for former USFWS Director Steve Williams based on the recommendation of Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM). Hall now needs to be sworn into office by Bush, which is expected to occur soon.
