More than $112,000 was paid to a California petition management firm to obtain signatures to put a ban on dove hunting on Michigan's ballot this fall, reports the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA). The report states that the Humane Society of the United States has contributed more than $153,000 to this anti-dove hunting campaign. In response, Michigan sportsmen have formed the Citizens for Wildlife Conservation Committee to protect the state’s hunting tradition and to raise funds and awareness toward defeating the proposed ban. Partners include USSA, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, the National Rifle Association and Safari Club International. The committee faces a "no-contribution limit for ballot-question committee" and the knowledge that anti-hunters pumped $800,000 into a 2004 anti-hunting ballot issue campaign in Maine, even before the HSUS established its lobbying division.

Just another bit of "Food for thought",... the Humane Society of the United States is currently in a " TAX EXEMPT" classification !

They have been using donations paid for by the public at large to help try and ban hunting in all forms. There has been a petition out on the web for anyone to who is of legal voting age to sign to help rid them of their "exempt" status. ( I have :D )

I would reccomend to all our brother and sister sportspersons to seek out this petition and make their mark to help rid us of this useless exempt status fro the Humane Society

Terry,
Do you have a link to the petition. This is no doubt worth advertising in a more noticeable location on the site. Lets get this ball rolling faster.

Huntordie,... this is a link to the site I found the petition on,.. it is in conjunction with a petition started against PETA with a list of other "against hunting" groups tacked on to it.Tax Exempt Petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/rvkptaex/petition.html)

This petition has been going on for quite some time,.. I had initially found it on another sportsmans website that I belong to and signed it almost a year ago.

Terry,
We have decided to run adds at the left to provide links to the petitions. Lets spread the word as much as possible. If it has been out for a year I hope we are not too late.
Thanks for the info. This is the stuff we are looking for.

No problem Scott :D,.. I myself was a little ticked off when I saw that information regarding them being "Tax Exempt". They put on this sad and feel sorry face to the public about helping animals but never go on to explain that it is also AGAINST hunting in all forms and means.

The ol' "Bait & Switch" routine!

I hope your efforts on this site will help further the cause AGAINST these types of people and organizations. ;) :D
